Hi there, my name is Joanne and I am a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, life coach and counselor with an independent practice based in Glasgow City Centre and a satellite office in Cumbernauld. I provide a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate environment, where you can share your challenges.
My main approach is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), with elements of other approaches being incorporated to suit individual needs. CBT is a talking based therapy and is recommended by the National Institute of Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE) to help treat anxiety, depressions, phobias and other emotional, mental and physical health issues.
CBT helps us to understand the origins of our problems with the main focus on learning to more effectively manage our thoughts, behaviors, and feelings in the present. Sometimes, through no fault of our own, we often get stuck in vicious cycles. We will work together to establish new skills and strategies to help you make positive and lasting changes. I work within the ethical framework of COSCA and BABCP.
Furthermore, I'm able to work with both individuals and couples. I'm also experienced in working with teenagers and young adults.
Experience & Qualifications
Prior to starting my career as a therapist, I spent 16 years with a FTSE 100 company as a sales professional, area manager, trainer, and coach. I have also attained the following qualifications:
